Fundraiser Raises Over $10,000 For New Middletown Library

On Sept. 20, Volunteer Brewing Company hosted a fundraiser for the new Middletown Library. The Brewing For Books fundraiser was organized by New Castle County Councilman David Carter along with the Friends Of The Appoquinimink Library. The event sold it's allotment of 200 tickets and Carter said that the event raised over $10,000 for the new library.

The event was catered by the Rt. 9 Library and also featured a silent auction as well as musical entertainment from Keith Thompson and Nice Like Dat. A number of local elected officials were in attendance including State Senators Stephanie Hansen and Bruce Ennis; State Representative Kevin Hensley; New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer; New Castle County Council members David Carter and Bill Bell; Middletown town council members James Reynolds, Drew Chas, Rob Stout, Aaron Blythe and Robert McGhee; Townsend Mayor Tom McDonald; and Townsend Town Councilman Ed Dugan.
